So as you can see i was feeling sorta creative and decided to hit my driver 10.5 loft off the deck the ball never leaves the ground and rolls probably 30 yards anyone got advice other than dont hit the driver off the deck lol
I have never seen any pros do it but my buddy and me have been hitting the driver out of the trees and it works great for me. I can hit a low shot that does not get up more than a few feet and it rolls about 200 yards max. I can even work it right or left. Great punch shot that I can not hit with any other club. good luck.

Didn't Vijay hit a driver off a fairway this year at some tournament? I remember it going way left hitting a tree and bounced back near the green.
I am no expert, but comparing my driver design from when I started (10 years ago) to now it seems that the sole is not designed to hit of the deck like it once was (then: v shaped with a sole plate...now: flat)...much harder to get a deep face driver's sweet spot (read impossible) on the ball off the deck as well...
the lowest i go from fairway is a 3 wood and at times more confident with loft,i agree with above, the oversize heads are designed for a large tee with half ball above the clubhead,so from the deck the ball is below the clubhead, but if it works for you then go ahead
Off the deck, no. Out of a fluffy lie in the rough when I want the ball to cut maybe - but if I am in this spot it is probably because of a poor drive to begin with so the last thing I want to do is try to hit it again.

Yeah - don't hit driver off the deck. You might get more roll the next 50 times you try it, but you'll still hit all of them shorter than your gap wedge.
Laura Davies hits her driver off the deck instead of using a tee. She takes her wedge and slams it in the ground and pops the ground up to make an earth tee. She says she feels like she is going to pull everything off a tee.
Anytime I even think about hitting the big dawg off the deck...I take a deep breath until it passes. Seems much better to go to a 13 or 15 degree club. Why manufacture disaster?
I've done it on a few occasions on very long holes. I tend to hit it fairly low (20ft off the ground) but it runs good, about 200yds. I now defer to the 3 wood or hybrid in those situations.
Out of long grass I would never ever try. For the same reason that it can work if you want a runner on the fairway, you can easily end up running the ball into long grass immediately in front of you and the ball goes 30 yards... rather embarassing!
I would only hit driver of the deck only when I have a good lie and need to keep the ball flight low ie behind a tree. All other cases either 3 or 5 wood.
