loose hands at the top/grip

I've always been a little loose at the top and go past parallel, so I tried something different yesterday with my grip.

(Right handed) I've always used the interlocking grip so I tried a reverse overlap. I put my left forefinger over my right pinky. It kept me from overswinging and could not go past parallel. Hit the ball real solid with really good control of the irons. The only drawback is that there's a lot of pressure on the right pinky and after the round it was fairly sore.

Nice adjustment, I used to have this problem as well but it was more of a result of overswinging on my backswing. Stopped over swinging and the grip problem went away.

Try extending your left thumb further down the grip, it really helps keep things from getting too sloppy at the top of the backswing.

I wouldn't adjust too much. Some of the longest hitters go past parallel (Freddie, JD, Bubba) It sounds like you discovered something that helps your swing, which is great. But if it's to the detriment of your health of your finger, I would stop. Play golf badly is better than not playing golf at all.

A massive change and hitting the ball good straight away is some what excellent. I'd just relax with your new grip slightly, Maybe because you're using a new grip yuo feel the need to squeeze. Just relax your hands...
