Divot After the Ball with Pitch Shots ?

I've just come back from watching "Monty " playing Paul Casey at a matchplay championship here in the UK, one thing i noticed is with pitch shots from say 40 yards and out they were taking a huge divot after contact which is something alot of use mere mortals don't do . How do you take such a large divot when its such a short distance ?

Steep swing with a lofted club on moist-to-wet turf, hit down and through, make the ball climb the clubface imparting LOTS of spin...you're right, though...not a shot most weekend warriors or novices (not calling you one) should obsess on. Monty has a steeper swing than most pros.
