My swing speed

I hit the best 4 iron of my life today, par 3 175yds to the front and I hit it straight down the middle to the back of the green 190yds, roughly what would my SS have been?

Well I average 190 with my 4 iron, and my driver swing speed usually ranges from 102-105 mph. I'm not sure what the swing speed would be with the iron, but most people measure it with the driver.

be hard to tell... for one 4 iron is shorter than driver, and it would depend on loft, angle of your hands, and other variables, I normally hit my 4 about 205, and my driver speed is 110 or so. only way to know for sure is to have it checked! Sorry I'm no help.

May seem like a really dumb question, but, was your clubface/grooves clean? The reason I ask this is that long ago, I played with a guy who could hit the ball a ton, but didn't know that much about the game. On a par 3, 176 yards, he hits an 8 iron over the green about 10 yards. I told him that it looked like a flyer in the air. He said that it was impossible to hit a flyer from the tee, but then when I looked at his club, the grooves were packed with dirt and you could barely see the face.

If it is a flyer, you can hit the ball a little farther w/o additional swing speed due to lack of backspin.

I'd be more sure than Ivory is pure that this didn't happen to you, but it's worth mentioning, IMO.

I carry my driver about 230-240 and have a driver swing speed of about 95-100mph

I carry my 5 irons about 175 and my club head speed is around 85-90 so I would guess your 4i swing speed was about the same.
