Cut shot
Can someone tell me what a "cut" shot is and under what circumstances it is used? Thanks, Jim.

^^ a cut shot is a slight fade, where the ball turns left to right where the face is slightly open. Used usually with tight fairways, and when your trying the cut the dogleg. Opposite spin then a draw so it checks in fairways

When someone says they cut across the ball, they mean an out-to-in swing path which, with a slightly open club face, produces the fade.

just a note: if you're left handed you're looking at a right to left ball flight with a cut shot. opposite that for a draw shot. probably clear from the posts above, but just in case...
