tried something today

well i too a couple wedges to the range today, 54* 50* i started out normal my normal swing , and was hittin the 54 to the 100yd stick but comin up about 10 yds short on the majority. I placed the ball way in the back of my stance about just inside my right foot (right handed) i hit a few like that and it was really nice. much better contact, more consistant, lower trajectoryy and about 10 to 15 yds farther. i was hitting the 54* around 100 yds and the 50 about 115. So i gained about 10-15yds just by place the ball back in my stance. this does have to also do with my swing, because i do release my hands early on the downswing. does anyone think that i could add 10 to 15 or maybe more by doin the same thing with my longer irons?? 3 - pw maybe even driver or 3w? i dunno im pretty curious to hit the course and try this.

less loft on the club when the ball is at the back of your stance, thats why you had a lower ball flight.
