question about some clubs

im not sure if this is the right place to put this so if you need to move it go ahead....

Ok I have just aquired a set of Lincoln Professional Irons and I cant really find any info on them. I know they are very old because my dad used them when he played highschool golf back in the 70's. As you all know technology has advanced alot over the years and I was wondering if these would be alright to practice with till i get my new clubs. I have a feeling Im going to have to "learn" my new clubs all over once i get them.

So if anyone can find anything on these clubs and tell me if I should even bother trying to "learn" these clubs, that would be great.

Cool

You can learn on any set of clubs, it's not a problem. I learned this crazy game on a mixed set of irons I got at GoodWill, and real persimmon fairway woods and driver. It will only make your next set of clubs that much better. Why wait, have some fun with what you have and worry about new clubs when you get them.

I had just bought a set of 1980 Ben Hogan Decade irons—real blades. They were a little difficult to hit at first because people told me that blades were hard to hit. After a couple rounds, I was hitting them pretty nice. Played with them for awhile and although I was not getting the distance I was getting with my other Ben Hogans due to the 3 degree higher loft in all the irons then my current irons. So I started trying to hit them harder to get the distance, but I had to still try and make good contact. I just went back to my BH Apex Pro semi-blades, and now I can hit them further and straighter and shape them. Those new clubs with all the so called "technology" built into them is a crock. Like OnePutt said, you can learn on any set of clubs.

Choke down and deloft the club by having your hands ahead of the clubface at address and at impact by maintaining the angle between your wrist and shaft. This is also called a punch shot or a knockdown shot. In most likelyhood it will run quite a bit upon landing but will travel two clubs short for me anyway. For instance, if I want to hit a regular shot 160yds I use a 7 iron. But if I want to use a knockdown shot to travel the same distance, I use a 5 iron.

You can find a great set of name brand irons on ebay. If you get forged irons you can get them adjusted to your specifications at Golfsmith or Roger Dunn.
