putting practice

I have been practicing in my living room putting one ball into another over and over from various distances. Although my putting has improved using this method, I am still not satisfied. Today, I began as usual, and hit 9 out of 10 from decent distances. Then I figured that I dont get to actually aim AT a ball on the course so I cut out a small circle out of black felt and tried to hit to that.
WOW! what an eye opener!!!! I only hit about 3-4 out of 10. I practiced this for about 10 min and improved to around 70%. I have a feeling that this will really help on the course. Hope this can help others who struggle at putting.

Eric

Where did the felt come from...I haven't seen felt since arts and crafts class in third grade ...it is a good point...I used to putt to chair legs but found that when I put a coin in the middle of the floor vs a chair against a wall my stroke on course improved...

I set up two putting cups at 10 and 20 feet in my living room. It hasn't improved my putting yet but I learned that my carpet/floor isn't straight.

I just bought one of those indoor putting mats that is 6 feet long from ebay. Brand New for 3 bucks. Much better than putting across carpet.

Those are all good for putting practice.

I drilled out a hole in my hardwood floors and put an actual cup in with a flag and everything....my wife didn't appreciate that too much.

Well Done!

I wouln't mind doing the same thing. I cut out a circle a little bit smaller than a real hole from a piece of cardboard, then colored it in to look like a hole.

Awesome. I have often thought about doing that, and it is great to read that somebody actually had the s to go ahead and do it.

One of these days when I own a home and hopefully have my "man room" for all my stuff/office/etc, I want the carpet to be a synthetic green with holes cut out of the floor. I know my wife will kill me though.

Ok heres a tip ive read. When lining up for a putt, dont aim at the hole, try to pick a very small mark in the grass in line with the putt, and the hole, if you aim at that you will be more accurate because you are aiming at something more precise. I practice my putting to a 50p coin. It helps alot for me.

I didn't seriously do that...but it would be cool.

We just got a synthetic green with 3 holes at the dealership where I work. I'll have to bring a putter in so I can sneak out and get some putting in at lunch time.

WHy not just hang a canvas down the middle of you office and hit iron shots into it, then have a putting green.

I'd never have to go to the range again...brilliant idea. I work with a couple non-golfers so they probably wouldn't be too keen on the idea.
