Against the wind

Is there any specific reason for an unusual type of slice against the wind? It happened again today: when I knock it into the wind the ball goes straight for about two-thirds of the way and then starts veering off to the right - as opposed to my old conventional slice that starts its ill-fated journey the moment it leaves the tee.

Which do you prefer? Do you want to learn to play your slice in the wind? I imagine there is a logical explaination, but rather just work on your mechanics and knock downs so that the wind won't be as big an issue...

Thanks, Big. Ja, it was just puzzling: the ball initially cruising straight (twice I thought it was going straight to the green) and suddenly it's as though it started pulling 'right-rudder'. There was no chance in (perceivable) wind direction and the 'phenomenon' didn't occur when playing in cross-winds or tailwinds. Maybe it's just another (golf) stage I'm going through.

Keep in mind the ball will go straight until it slows enough that the forward momentum is lower than the force attempting to move it right or left (spin).

NJaaaa!! So I'm still spinning it (pro-slice)? That does make sense though JC. We're going into our windy season so it'll give me a foothold to work from.
