Driver shaft length versus choking down on the club
I read somewhere that the 'off the shelf' drivers have a 45" shaft but professionals actually hit something shorter.
If it's harder to hit a longer shaft why do they make them that length?
Doesn't choking down on the shaft do the same thing as cutting the shaft length? (OR) Does cutting the shaft change more than that?

I had mine chopped off and it totally messed up the swingweight. Your R Fujikura shaft will become "stiffer" as a result as well.
It's a good idea if you have problems controlling your driver, but only if your pro thinks it is. Get fitted and adjust the weight appropriately.
Good luck!

ckoking on shaf
It's up to you Bub....you must practice enough to know what is right for you. I have viewed many video tapes with Professional tips. One guy said some pros use a shaft as long as 50". So it's up to you, you must practice and learn how that way.....don't be afraid to experiment.....I practiced with a 50" shaft and hit some very long shots at the driving. range, but I could not practice enough to be consistant.....so I cut it back 46"....
....but if you practice enough, I am sure you or anybody that realy wants fantastic length off the tee can use a 50" shaft...

48" is usga max fellas. You can do 50" but you have to measure it LDA style which is setting the club agaisnt a wall and measuring that way.
