When setting up at the tee to hit your driver, what are y'alls stances? Do you set the ball lined up with the front foot or do you have it in the middle of your stance? What do y'all feel is the proper set up?
I practiced swinging the ball to determine the bottom of the arc given how I hold the club. I then set the club at the bottom and the ball just to the left so that I hit up on it. Because of this, the ball is aligned on the logo of my shirt. I noticed more consistency using my trunk as the reference point rather than relative to the position of my feet.
I do the same for the irons. My ball is in alignment with my sternum or buttons of the shirt. My hands on the irons are ahead of the ball so that I hit through the ball - as opposed to hit at the ball.
My hybrid 4 has the same set up as the irons.
My 3 and 5 wood are set up like the driver - off my logo.
Driver is in the fron of my stance, welcome to the forum Haze why not introduce yourself in the introductions part of the site. As the club gets the less loft the further i move it up my stance.
I try to line up with the driver just back of my left heel in the textbook position, but I tend to let it drift a little farther back toward center, when I get off a bit.
Since people have different width stance, I teach them to play the driver any where from the left chest to the left shoulder(for righties). When playing the ball farther up in your stance for the driver, remember to keep your shoulders square by tilting your spine to the right slightly. Do not open your shoulders to reach the ball.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I am setting the ball too far in front of my stance. I am going to set up more in line with my left heel and see if I get some better strikes that way.
i used to be inside L heel , but instructor has now got me lining up opposite L toes...why? i do not know...i am just a pawn in his hands...not to question the master why!....
