Question Full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 swing

Who knows the definition of full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 swing?
It is refer to the arm(hand) position?

3/4 swing, the hand should be parallel to the ground, isn't it?

Thank you for your input.

Cool

I'm sure you will get a lot of different opinions on this, but I figure a 1/2 swing is when you take your arms back enough to have your arms parallel to the ground. That equates to a 9 O'Clock position with your hands. A 1/4 swing would be a 7:30 to 8 O'clock position with your hands, and a 3/4 swing would be around 10:30 hand position. What you have to figure in here, is how far back you take your hand in a full swing. If your hands only go to 10 O'clock for a full swing, you'll have to figure out all new numbers for all your partial swings accordingly. I'd recommend you go with the 8, 9 and 10 O'clock hand positions for a start, and see how far you hit the ball with each of your wedges.

I agree with this description. I would also encourage a more 7:30/9:00/10:30 name terminology as opposed to a 1/2 swing or 3/4 swing because these are more abstract. A 1/2 swing will be different for many different people. But a 9:00 swing will be the same for all. It would just depend if that is a position where you are taking the club back as far as you comfortably can.

I also teach 1/4 swing-hands hip high
1/2 swing-hands waist high
3/4 swing - hands arm pit high
Full swing -hands shoulder high
Some people can never get the clock right but they can close their eyes and touch their body parts.
