Divot

Im taking a divot to far in front of the ball. Could this be caused by an improper weight shift? Or am I doing something else that is causing this?

it could be caused by a nunber of things. what i see with most beginners and high handicappers is this, 1) they let their right knee straighten up, must keep it very slightly bent , but braced, you want the weight (back swing) to go to the inside of your right foot, almost if you were to start a sprint sideways( put a ball on the outside of the right foot so that it tilts it inward some), this will give you that feeling.
2) they let their head (spine angle) bob up and down or too much side ways keep it steady all the way through the shot. have someone watch you.

do these two items for starters and you'll a much better ball contact.

you can also try this, keep your eyes focused on the front part of the ball.

you may want to get a lesson, you'll be surpised how much you can learn.

just try moving the ball up a little bit in your stance where the divot starts.

Nice way you put it Mikey - I'll try that. I think I might be overdoing the (weight) transfer to the outside of the foot & getting under the ball.

Thanks for all the tips but I think what was causing this was a delayed weight shift. I worked on shifting all my weight at the beginning of the downswing and I quit taking a divot up by my left foot.
