Any thoughts on my 'tweaking'?

Hi guys, maybe some of you lower handicappers can give me some input here?

Tried something different on the range yesterday & didn't want to post anything about it for fear of it being a fly-by-night occurence. But back at the range today confirmed my 'new' approach to have a significant effect on my striking capabilities i.t.o. accuracy and consistency. I made the following changes:
- Changed interlocking grip to hammer-grip (I think you guys call it a 'baseball bat' grip in the US)
- Increased left hand grip strength (not excessive though), and reduced that of my right hand
- Funny explanation this re downswing: (Kind-of) tried 'pulling' my left arm through the swing with my upper body/shoulder (b.m.o. 'twist' - for lack of a better word) - 'hauling' the club 'along' (sorry - that is an awful way of trying to explain it) - and using my right arm to 'steer'

It's not often that I'm impressed with my general golfing ability, but I really was/am excited about the results. The swing also felt extremely comfortable and I couldn't help notice how well - and easily - I was able to get my left shoulder turned in under my chin.

Any comments? Apologies for the 'sketchy' description of the swing.

Congratulations: If it works for you, and if you can make it stick (and for most golfers that is a big IF!), there is nothing wrong with what you are doing. The 'sketchy' description of the downswing was interesting, but the perception of a swing is very personal: Golfers with similar swings can have completely different swing feelings. Similarly, identical swing-thoughts can have wildly varying effects on different golfers! The bottom line is that you may have found something that works for you. From your description of the swing feeling comfortable, and the easy backswing, it sounds to me that you are on the right track: IMO nothing is more important in the swing than getting to a good top position.

PS
Divot: Do the followthrough and the finish position feel as good (in balance, comfortable) as the backswing? Finish position is one of the best gauges of swing-soundness (I am of course assuming that you are pleased with where the ball is going!!!).

THAT is a GREAT way to describe the actions of the right hand. If more golfers would "steer" the club with the right hand (Right-Handed Golfers) and swing with the left, there would be less slicing...oops and less work for me...nevermind, the RIGHT hand is the way to go...lol.

Many thanks SS and JC.
Ja, SS, my follow-through is not exactly as 'smooth a transition' from the downswing as I'd like it to be. I think I've got my own 'natural tendency' working somewhat against Tiger's 'shake hands with the target' philosophy - which is stuck in the back of my head.
JC, at least you've confirmed that I'm on the right track. It just irks me that the """"""pro""""""" I was seeing was mucking about with scratch-player techniques (like using divots to control the ball) to start with, instead of focusing on the/my basics.
