you also could be compensating for a bad swing path. Having the coordination to close the clubface at impact enough to make up for it. This will create a low ball, because you are hooding the shot almost.

Hmmmm, you might be onto something there, my friend.
I was having some fade issues and I was working on it. So you might be right on the money.
Ok, time to break out the video camera and tri-pod.
Thank you, everyone!!
BTW- dieter, get your mind out of the gutter, dude!
Something else you might try that has worked for me in similar situatons: swing at about 3/4s of your normal speed. I was gettting my hands too far in front of the clubhead and was delofting everything. Slowing down let the club get the ball in the air properly and my drives gained about 10 yards from better impact in the sweet spot.
My first guess that you are projecting your iron swing on the drive swing. Try to sweep more and extend the club beyond the tee.
Set up two tees about 1 foot apart. Tee up the ball on the back tee. After contact try to hit the front tee (you won't be able to but it will make you extend).
Make sure you aren't chicken winging (I cannot see the swing so don't get defensive).
Good luck.
