Right now I hit my 5-iron 160 and used Wilson 1200LT's which are blade irons and they are not custom fitted. I see players on tour and how all their ball flights start off low and get higher and when I strike the ball it just takes off and goes up without starting off low. I do not like this and I hit the sweet spot almost every time. Right now my handicap is a 6 and I have a membership at a local course. I would like to know how I can get that ball flight and are there any tips for more ball striking consistency?
If you hit down on the ball won't that make it get up faster? More help please and tips for more consistent contact. Would an impact bag help and/or are there any other things out there that would help?

the shafts can make difference, but really, in order to get the ball to rise, it takes a certain amount of ball speed, combined with spin and trajectory to get the ball to rise. most of the pros you see on tv can hit their five iron 190 or more. it's not to say that hitting a 5 iron 160 yards, that you can't get the ball to rise, but odds are against it due to lower ball speed = less wind force or lift.
in todays game, a moderate angle, non rising ball flight will give you the best distance and accuracy anyhow.
at a 6 handicap, why would you want to fix something that's not broken?

-Thanks
If you can hit the sweet spot almost every time, why change anything? My irons fly that way, at least the long ones start at a medium trajectory and climb steady, and then seem to drop straight down. But my long irons are full cavity backs, so I get a ton of backspin.
Thanks for the link I guess that could be the problem but I also have to agree with the guy who said it was the swing speed. No one has answered my question about how to get more consistent contact (Most of the time I hit it good but I would like to be more consistent). I asked if the impact bag was a good idea or if anything else would help and I asked people if there were any types of drills to help me so someone please answer that. Also, are there any drills to get a faster swing speed or are there any products I could buy that would help with my swingspeed?

the weighted swing trainer works very well. you can get the Momentous Knock off at Walmart for $25. this will help strenghten the arms and wrists. the impact bag is more for the the golfers who have the tendency to cast the club.

I was going to say the same thing. You gotta understand how much force is being applied to the ball by those pros. Golf is about playing within yourself and just doing what you're capable of. Just because the pros do something, doesn't mean that it's a very common thing and probably a very small percentage of people can actually pull off shots that the pros make. I'd love to be able swing like Tiger, but that's just not a possibility, so why fight it?
