found a good inexpensive instructor in DFW area

I live in the DFW area and was looking for a good golf range close to my work, which is in Grapevine. I found a range and I noticed a sign at the window for a special on lessons, $35/hr with a PGA certified instructor. I thought to myself "somethings wrong here, $35/hr for a PGA certified instructor?!"

Anyway I decided to take a card and give him a call just to see. I ended up scheduling a lesson with him just this last Saturday. He's been training for the last 12 years and got certified with the PGA a couple of years ago. Making money is a not a huge deal for him, he just loves to teach, it's his passion and the special has been going on for the last year.

The lesson lasted almost two hours, and he told me the first lesson often will, and he only charged me for one hour. I've had lessons before (started playing golf a little over a year ago) at an indoor facility and my grip and stance is not too bad. He took me back to basics, tweaked my grip and changed my stance and we started hitting with the 8 iron (which I used the whole lesson long).

By the end of the lesson 5 out of my last 10 shots were on target draws with good height and distance. I have never been able to hit a draw before. I was very impressed with his ability to dissect my swing (grip, stance, posture, swing, etc....) and effectively communicate to me the changes needed.

I will gladly pass on his information to anybody interested. I feel like I've found a really good deal, a steal in fact, and truly just want to pass on the good news to anybody who shares the same passion I have for golf and who wants to get better.

His name is Stacy Mapel, and he works at Bob Moore's Sports Center in Colleyville, Texas.

I will gladly send you his phone number but would prefer to PM it. Just let me know.

Thanks for the recommendation. Getting a good golf instructor is hard to find. I just might look him up the next time I feel like getting some lessons. I've been playing golf for about 2 1/2 years and in general I'm not happy with the level of instruction I've received.

Yes, it's an outdoor range. I had to cancel appointment with him yesterday due to the weather. It bummed me out.
