Please point at the flaws in my created virtual swing.

I know you may think this is kind of stupid. It comes from the woefully unrealistic (but fun) Tiger Wood’s game. Here I have created what in my mind would be a great swing and advice here would be greatly appreciated. If I can understand what’s wrong with my created golf swing I can be one step closer to understanding how a real golf swing works.

Here’s the video of the full swing:

The golfer is 6ft tall to provide a point of reference.

(sorry about the poor camera work).

Address position:

nothing special here.

Beginning of backswing:

[/IMG]

I’ve made the golfer move the upper body and hips as far right as possible with the wrists beginning to be cocked back to the maximum amount.

Top of backswing:

The whole body is as far right as possible and the wrists are cocked fully.

Downswing:

[/IMG]

The body is held back in order to deliver maximum force at impact.

End of Swing:

Photo finish.

I wish I had better software to simulate a golf swing but the Tiger’s Woods game is the best I have now. Seriously though what if anything is wrong with that swing and how could it be improved? In my mind that would be a very good swing, delivering maximum force to ball due the golfer’s great flexibility. Of course, I have yet to understand much about a golf swing so this is probably all wrong.

No expert, but the virtual golfer has the club WAY past parallel at the top. I don't hink Daly takes it that far past.

I love it. If you can hit the ball where you want with that swing, it's fine. Like stated above, the club does go past parallel, which makes it harder to control. But, if you make good contact with the ball, you have yourself a good 350 yd drive. Just look at Bubba Watson's swing. Also, an unorthodox swing does not mean that it's not a good swing as long as you make solid contact with the ball.

In reality it would be extremely difficult to get the club back square from that position at the top. The wrists are so cocked and the shoulders have so far to go. I doubt you'd hit the ball much further either, because you'd probably have lost your momentum by the time you got to the ball. He also has a severe flying right elbow at the top, which would lead to coming over the top and hitting a huge slice.

Yes, I know I could learn much much more recording my own swing but I don't have a high speed camera available to me at this time. Anyone have an extra one they don't need?

Been a long time, don't remember...anyone could copy the gif and break it down to individual cells for a good form/position reference...of course there's probably a lot more/better ones out there.

Better quality? Maybe.

Better swing? NEVER!!

I wish I could find that and make a signature or something from it.

Agree wholeheartedly...here, I'll attach it and you can use it as your avatar. Just right click, save and then go to user cp to load it as your avatar, if you wish.

The Stupid videogame only gives 3 opitions to change when making the swing, from 0% (none) to (100%) full: knee postion, body postion and wrist postion. Well besides the sarcasm it's still good to know the swing is seriously flawed and I now have an idea as to why. I wonder how much it would cost to buy a camera that would do a decent job of recording my swing? I'll have to look that up.

It may have been a stupid post but I still learned something from it and that's all that matters.

Ok, that's competely true, but will a regular camcorder do it? It figure it would cost me a 1000$ or more to get the right kind of camera.
