I have the best advice here, hope that dosen't sound to cocky. But if you go see a certified club fitter they will be able to tell you the correct grip size for you. That way you don't have to guess
Not sure about that. I always played a standard grip and last year let a clubmaker talk me into getting midsize grips. The guy didn't measure me or anything. Just looked at my grip (this was on a demo grip in January) and said my left index and ring fingers were touching get a midsize. I spent an entire summer fighting a slice with my irons - something that never happened before and have got the grips changed over to standards since. My advice is research yourself because just because you watched a Golfsmith video it doesn't mean your a clubmaker but there are alot of fellows out there that think they are because they have. There is so much info on clubmaking readily available on line now goodluck.

Thats why i mentioned "certified" clubfitter. The top guys know what they are talking about. I get fitted and stuff by the KZG clubfitter of the year, and the stuff he knows is amazing. He has really helped me in becoming competative in amatuer championships. I won't say all clubfitters are good, because there are heaps of what i call "self certified" clubfitters out there. But i would look around. Its good to do your own thing and research and stuff, but the top guys know more then you and me would ever wish ti know

Even Ping gets it wrong....
I've gone to Hotstix and watched them get it wrong.
I've walked into a Golfsmith and watched a salesman hand a guy 10 different clubs. I then went to the rack and pulled off one club, stuck it in his hands, and watched as the swinger produced some very solid contact and wanted to buy the club right away. I was kicked out. Go figure.

That salesperson was "certified" all right. But at what?
You would think he wanted to sell equipment, not massage his ego.
I am not sure about this. But I think if a person has a grip size too big, your physical grip on the club at impact will be loosen causing the club face to open, resulting in a slide. However, this grip actually position the grip in a stronger position.
If the grip size is to small, the club will twist much earlier (early release) especially for "hard grippers", closing the club face... resulting in a hook.
wow well i have standard grips and have big hands ...ive been hooking all day even when i make good contact it tends to go left....im a beginner and have focused on curing my hook....i hope getting a bigger grip helps thanks!
I had standard with 3 layers under and just had my grips re-done and put 4 layers under and it helps a tremendous amount. My hand is within 1/4" of yours. Just as an FYI..
