Exclamation Is Ben Hogans "Fundamentals Book" still Considered Accurate?

Found this book wedged in my book case. Looks ancient. Are these basic fundamentals still considered accurate after 100 years? If so I will memorize this thing. I would love some more insight. Thanks

Dude, if you've got a copy of Hogan's "Fundamentals" book, read it, and everything you can apply to your game, do it.
Just for the record, what is it exactly that you think has changed about having a good swing since Hogan's day? And why do you think it was 100 years ago?

100 years old! LOL - Around 50 years actually if I'm not mistaken

I am looking at a copy of it now! My Father has had for a good two decades, and never thought to tell me that he had this 'artifact'

The book should definitely be considered accurate as Hogan is one of the greatest ball strikers ever in this awesome sport. His concept of the 'swing plane' is a method which I believe is being referred to more and more as Golf advances in years, and I've seen far more one-plane swings in the past 5yrs than I care to remember

Be careful though if you practice some of Hogan's teachings within that book, as it known that he used to hook the ball and sometimes suffered with the odd disaster snap-hook, and the techniques he built for himself was aimed towards curing this. In fact, he 'cured it' so well, he was remarked to hit a slight fade in his peak years following his recovery from the car crash he was involved in

About 2 yrs ago my swing fell into the most awful slump. I went from hitting it straight and fairly far with clubs older than myself (Average 1W Carry + Roll: 240yd, 3I was my ''Best club'' at 205 avg.) and developed the most ridiculous slice. Now being left handed, this slice was the most ugly thing ever. I sliced for the best part of the last 2 years, and the found Hogan's book in my home. I began practising his 'one-plane' concept along with his teachings of setup and grip (albeit Myself having to do it as a 'Left-hander'), and though it felt very strange at first, I dedicated Myself to making the changes become second-nature and within a month of doing this my accuracy became better than ever and my distance was greater than it previously was.

Fast forward to the Present day and I am golfing far greater than ever and enjoying the game much better too, though I will say that the aspect of 'Playing better' is the biggest appeal to most golfers

Let me say 'Best wishes' on incorporating some of Hogan's most important teachings into YOUR swing. I'm sure it will be a sweet combination for you

Its a great book with a focus on solid fundamentals. Too many of today's teachings are to some extent "gimmicky" in order to brand them as the teaching of some "guru". There is nothing wrong with following the recommendations in Hogan's book as a starting point for any golf swing.
