I have the tendency of throwing the club, or what some people called "casting" during downswing before impact. THe result is fat shot or sometime even thin shot when i was tried to recover by lifting up the club/my body.
Any tips can help me correct this bad habbit. This usually happen when I try to generate extra power by swinging too much arm. Thanks.
Boy, I hear ya; I have fought that for quite a while. The best success I have had recently is to on the downswing pointing the end of the grip at the ball and concentrating on releasing only when I feel the grip goes beyond the ball. My contact has been better and I have better direction.
I haven't heard this from pros but when I feel I am slipping I focus more on my back hand (right for me being right handed). I try to hold it back as long as I can and firing it through concentrating on rolling my forearms (not just my wrists). As I said, it cleaned up a tendency slice and fat shots.
This problem happens to me when I take the club back too far. When I take the club past parallel I somehow load up my muscles in a way that encourages casting. When I stop my backswing at the parallel top position, or earlier, I tend to execute a proper swing. Have you taken a look in the mirror lately, to check how far you are taking the club back?
Do you know if you are reverse pivoting? I would focus on keeping my weight on my back foot at address, and tuck my back elbow on the downsing. Someone here posted that they actually try to touch their hip with their right elbow on the way down. I tried that and it works for me; even if I don't touch the hip the swing becomes more inside - out.

I havnt really focus on praticing delay release as late as possible, because everytime i try I ended up clubface opened. This move is still too hard for me and I think I should work more on fundamental first.

When I was a beginner I thought I had great flexability and always try to backswing as far as possible. My game was so inconsistent that bad habbits came and gone, and came again until I met my teacher. She told me I should perfect shots that with only waist hight backswing. I had problem rightaway from casting and fat shots. After able to hit those shots nice and straight, I started to backswing higher and my casting problem start again.
Now I wont let myself taking too much of a backswing because my little problems havnt been resolved yet.

Great tip. I just tried it in my room I felt I was really attacking the inside with later release. Another thing I discovered is my arms must not catch up my hip during the downswing. I knew that long time ago but never thought I have this problem. My arms are strong and fast now I must rotate my hip/torso faster so my arms wont catch up, AND I will have more space down low to swing to aviod hitting the ground.
BEST BEST tip i can give you for all of your shorter shots is to buy the lessons on the 4 best golf strokes. http://infomus.webcampaig.hop.clickbank.net/ . its better than any short tip i can give you, and it improved my short game dramatically (i was always a strong driver) good luck.
The grip pressure should be only in the last 3 fingers of the left hand and ONLY the 2 middle fingers in the right, absolutly NO pressure on the first finger and thumb, they just rest there...
Theres a device called Greg normans secret.. It keeps the right hand in a cupped position, its only like 8 bux off ebay.. Its been a godsend to me during my earlier golf..it forces you not to cast your hands

In all of my ignorance, may I ask what ' casting ' is? Thankyou
There are two forms of what people refer to as casting. The first being flexing the left elbow on the backswing generally caused by not enough rotation to the torso and a person wanting to get more turn on the backswing so their arm breaks down and the club goes past parallel. When they rlease they throw the club over the top by starting to straighten the left arm while bringing the club back around. The downside is you have an outside to in swing path and the chances of repeating this movement exactly is near impossible. This is typical of most beginners and high handicappers. The other is a whipping release after impact trying to add power or lift the ball instead of just allowing the club to come around on its natural release arc.
