Is it normal to have to concentrate on such basic fundamentals and should I be happy with my new shot shape.
Do you think you can make these fundamentals your own, or will they really require your full attention from now on? In case of the latter, you need a fix. In case of the former, give it some time! And BTW, I would take your pro's advice over any advice here! You are taking lessons with him for a good reason, correct?

A good takeaway is a necessary element of a good swing. I am not sure what you mean by a strong followthrough, or how you would focus on it. A good followthrough to me is the result of a good swing, moreso than something to try for.

Re: Should I accept or Fix?

I played today and as you say, my bad one is a stinker. It goes low and left and drawing hard but I wouldnt call it a pull or a hook. Is there some technical reason as to why this shot shape happens?

I have a slight one with my irons but with the driver and 3 wood I am never too sure which shot shape is coming out.

HELP?!?!?

This is exactly what I was worried about when I first read your post, and take it from me, I've been there. There was a time I would do a cartwheel if I hit a slight fade off the tee.

For me the difference was my grip, and more specifically, how I was taking it. If I were you, I would think long and hard about what you are doing differently now than before you started hitting this draw with your irons and the who-knows-what with your woods.

Not having much of an idea as to what's coming next off the tee is no way to play golf.

As straightshooter correctly stated, if it's gotten to this point, I'd go to your instructor. The $50 you'll pay him to figure it out will be money well-spent, and he'll likely figure out in 10 minutes what it might take you 3 months to deduce.

My first suspicion is grip, but I'd go see my pro before I hit another ball if I were you.

Re: Should I accept or Fix?

By the way I corrected this failure by altering my ball position. I have moved it more forward in my stance. My theory behind this is that it allows the hands to get through the ball correctly and in there own time. However, with the ball further backwards the body knows it needs to snap the hands and forces it. Just my theory. Try it if you are struggling
