I was wondering if anyone knew of a good website to keep track of your basic stats. A lot of the ones out there are too complicated and you have to enter in too much information.
you should try The Golf Digest Challenge
I signed up for it and am planning on using it since it gives helpful tips to help break 100,90,and 80, plus you could win something ^^
Beginning this year I considered getting some lessons, but I wanted to take some stats so that I could target the areas of my game that needed the most work. So I developed an excel spreadsheet. Haven't added Fairways and GIR yet, but they are probably going in soon. With doing the spreadsheet myself I was able to tailor it to my needs and goals. i.e. My goal this year is a 90 avearage, so my numbers are based on a chip and two putts.
I had a look for some more sites, but still didnt find anything as easy as MyGolfster.com. It has a goal setting system where if you have not reached the goals you have set, your goal will be red. Once you achieve your goal, the goal will display in green so you know that it needs to be lowered.
It also has a player network where you can connect with other players and view eachothers profiles. I have a few friends who are using it now too.
How do you actually record the info on course or do you remember them in your head?
Well for you youngsters it is a thing called pencil-n-paper aka score card. Instead of putting players names down, use thing like FIR, GIR, Puts, Scramble, and finally your strokes. Then when you get home punch it in the puter.
How do you actually record the info on course or do you remember them in your head?
I fit them all inside my score box. I put "F" in the top left corner if I hit a fairway, "G" in the top right if I get on in regulation, "S" or "U" in the bottom left if I get a sand save or up-and-down from greenside, and then the number of putts in the bottom left corner.
When playing alone or walking, I keep very detailed records (pretty much every shot) most of the time. I'll write down the yardage for every shot after the tee shot, and also the length of every putt in feet. This tells me exactly where I lose strokes in the round. If I am a little lazy, I may not write down every shot, but always keep track of every putt. I don't find # of putts alone to be useful.
I also write in an F for a fairway a P for a penalty stroke, S for sand save, crossed out if failed. Things like Up and Downs and GIR are easy to see from the rest and don't need to be marked.
they have over 16,000 courses in their database and if your course isn't in there it is easy to add it. and you can print out an individualized scorecard for each course that is set up to keep detailed score
its have a very simple interface but gives great details about your game like a break down of how you typically play on par 3 holes vs. par 4 or par 5 as well as all of the other basic stats.
its quick and easy to enter scores too. I guess I'm a little biased though :)
