Newbie asks for help :D, w/vids

Hey golfer guys and golfer girls,
I love Pink Floyd and golf, but you can call me JJ, all my friends do. As you can see, i'm new to this forum. I've been reading it for a couple weeks now and decided to join. What better way to start off our introductions with a little advice giving, ey?

Ive been playing for about 3/4 years now, and my handicap is 17, although i feel it should be a bit better :P (but then again, who doesn't?). Lately ive been hitting the ball solidly and long enough for me (250 yard drives or so, although its winter down here in Australia so its gone down to 230) but ive acquired this terrible fade. Especially on my driver and 3 wood. My irons are alright for the time being :). Anyway, just have a nice assortment of vids for you guys and would appreciate any pointers you have :D.

Btw the clubs used in the vids are Titleist 905R with Aldila NV65R, Titleist 904F 13* 3 wood with regular YS-6+, and a Callaway X-18 Pro Series 3 iron with reg steel.

Also, didn't know what format to put them in, so just chucked them in a zip file. If you want me to put them on youtube, i can. :)

to GR, JJ...big Floyd fan here, too. Actually I like the attached zip better than YouTube. You have a pretty darn good-looking swing, especially for a beginner. I was having a hard time picking anything to critique in the down-the-line views...everything looked solid - one-piece takeaway, great tempo, not overswinging or swinging too hard...all good in my book. Then when I looked at the head-on views I detected something that could be causing some problems. When you take the club away you're letting the coil (left shoulder) raise your head significantly at the top...moving head = moving target (ball). I also noticed from that view that you're not taking the club back quite as far as I'd like to see with the woods. This is quite different from what I see with most young men your age...most try to just murder the ball...quite nice to see someone swinging "within himself". But in your case I think you'd find some more distance and straighten that push/slice if you'll just take the club back a little further at the top while trying to keep your head still. That's really all I can see "wrong"...you sure aren't coming over the top, I just think you occasionally don't get all the way back to square, hence the "rights". So my advice is to simply lengthen your swing with the woods, keep your head still, pause at the top keeping everything "connected" and accelerate through the impact area. I bet you'll find that will straighten your shots off the tee. You have a mighty decent swing, young man...let us know how you progress.

Thanks alot shade. I always knew my swing was a bit shorter, but i didn't think that would be much of a problem :P. After school finishes ill try working on my flexibility so i can get that full shoulder turn. Also, now that i look at it, my head does move quite a bit, thanks for pointing that out. Just one question, do you think the clubface is too closed at the top of the swing?

Thanks for looking, i thought you were all scared of me.

JJ
