Ball goes left?? Need help please!

Hi,

Im a lefty. I seem to have this problem that my ball often starts left and gradually continues going left slowly but it does not slice. I will occasionally hit straight to the target but i dont change anything in my swing, at least that what it seems. I dont have this problem with my driver.

Anyone have any idea what could cause this?

If you are a lefty with the ball going left, then you have an open clubface.....its unusual that you dont have it with your driver unless you are playing with an offset driver or a driver with a draw bias....could be a million things.....its easier to have somebody take a look at it for you....

Open your club face by gripping club with only 2 knuckles on your right hand visable as you look down at your hands when you address the ball.

You folks do realize that this person is left handed don't you?

He's already hitting the ball left. Opening the clubface isn't going to help that. Weakening his grip (if he's even using a strong grip) isn't going to help either.

I agree with dedstroke2 that you're probably leaving the clubface open at impact. You say it's not happening with your driver. Do you use a different swing with your driver than with your irons? A steeper swing with the irons might get your path a little outside-in.

Re: Ball goes left?? Need help please!

My driver is the R7 425. The weights are set to neutral.

The only thing i feel different with the driver is that my follow through goes all the way around to where the club is perpendicular to the target. I think i seem to have a little hesitation with the irons in finishing my follow through. Feels a little more tight in my arms at impact and i dont go all the way around behind my neck with the club perpendicular to the target. the beginning of the shaft is pointing at the target and maybe a slight right of it.

Sorry if it seems abit complicated.

You think its that?

If you feel tight during the swing, it's probably the cause. Tension in the muscles will keep you from doing things at the same speed as with your driver swing. It may be keeping you from getting the face closed at impact.

Re: Ball goes left?? Need help please!

You need to "finish high". Watch how the pros finish with a full follow through.
This could be your problem.
Also if your club (grip I presume) is pointing to the right of target at the completion of your swing then it sounds like you may be cutting the ball as well, meaning an outside to in swing path and your brain is telling you "wrong" so you try and correct by not finishing the shot.
I would definitely get someone to take a look at it.
