Right now I have a very flat swing. I could hit a slight fade consistently using a flat swing. When I try to use a more upright swing, I just can't hit the ball good and I have less power. So I was wondering if it is alright to have a very flat swing.
I used to have a very flat swing plane as well, but there is a fine line between flat and too flat. I crossed it. If you get too flat you'll start shanking the ball, and being very inconsistent. I also used to hit this huge draw, which would go to my target, but it looked hideous. I started going more upright and found great consistency but after a while of being too upright I started coming over the top, like I used to also. There is a plane right in the middle of the two that works out great. That's where I'm at now, and am finding good results
Well I guess my swing is not as flat as I'm making it sound like. Another thing about when I try to use a upright swing is my club just digs in the ground instead of making a small divot.
When using a more upright or steep swing plane you sometimes have to have the lie adjusted upright a couple of degrees to prevent digging. Flat and sometimes the lie has to be decreased. One has to determine which plane is best for their body movement and gives repeatability and then see if the clubs need altering to fit them to the swing.
the better you get the more difficult it will be to hit consistent good shots with a very flat swing. my swing use to be flat by my dad helped me alter it so it is more upright
Simply ask a pro nicely if he has a minute. If he's nice he will look at your swing and tell you. Shouldnt cost anything uless they are very, very, very cheap
