Ok so my step-dad is off work all week and we are going to play all week. I have been looking forward to this for a while but stupid me...I was playing some pick-up b-ball tonight and really hurt my wrist...it's swollen and really sore. So any ideas of what I could do to help me get through my week w/o ruining my game? It's my right wrist and I have been swinging a club (painful lol) trying to see what it's going to be like...while it's not bad it will be awful if im in the rough or if I have to hit a hard shot....so any specific braces orshould I jut wrap the **** out of it?
Thanks
PS...Dont tell me to lay off of it lol...I will not miss this week. I WILL break 80 if it kills me
If it was me i would'nt want to give it up either, but i would seek medical advice somewhere other than a golf forum. Not having a go, just my 2p worth
If it is really painful, and you are going to be stubborn about playing, look into getting a Cortisone shot. That's what I did when something like that happened to me :)
I have had it wrapped up all day and luckily it's better...not 100% but not bad enough to worry about. I didnt get to play today anyway so it had a days rest. I will be heading out in the morning with it wrapped up and we will see how it goes.
Warm it up in warm water before you go, ice it down after you play, put a regular wrist brace on it...I have no idea what condition your wrist is in, and my first advice would be to see a doctor or just take it easy for awhile, but I see your situation, and if the wrist is just sore, club up, swing easy and have a great week!
Guys I appreciate the concern but it's not like it's broken...I have played basketball all my life (im only 19) Im used to playing with pain It's not that serious. I was just curious if there were any specific excercises or braces to loosen it up?
I can do plenty of warm-ups for basketball but it's not the same motion, so they do very little.
IMO do not be foolish like Phil did in the US Open and risk further injury. Pain and swelling means something is very wrong. Lay-off and heal up, otherwise you risk a serious chronic injury that may prevent you from ever playing again and/or surgery. At a minimum go see your family MD for sound, professional, and personal advice,
