Shot types

Hello,

I can hit the ball quite well, mostly with a slight draw. What im not 100% sure on is how to hit a soft landing 4i for example.

If im on a Par 3 200 yards, i will most likey use a 4 or 5i depending on the wind etc, but landing on the green usually leads to me rolling off, unless the pin is at the back and i can put the ball on the front and let it roll up.

So, how do i get a less penertrating shot and more of a soft landing with less roll? I have a good idea how to keep the ball low, but not vice versa (I think they call it cutting the ball?)

Re: Shot types

What you need is to practice some shots with the club face slightly open.. your stance should be slightly open as well.....this means that you also aim left of the target. .this should create proper side spin to reduce the roll when the ball lands...

Re: Shot types

Try putting the ball a little bit further back in your stance also, it will help you get more height on the ball and it should land with less roll, you may need to use on club lower depending on how high you actually launch the ball.

back in your stance? Probably a ball or two forward in your stance to increase the height of the shot. Unless you mean by hitting down to impart backspin t make it stop?

Re: Shot types

Weaken you grip very slightly and execute your normal swing. Due to ball flight, you may need to aim more left than normal.
