For me personally, any swing key which focuses on small muscles like the hands or wrists only messes up the timing of the other components of the swing.

I see. The downswing is not a problem once it's there for me. It's just an issue of getting it there to begin with. Hopefully with time it will not be something I'll have to even think about. But I even saw a clip of Ernie Els' on Swing Vision where the broadcaster said that where Els gets into trouble is when the angle between his left arm and the club isn't quite there, so I suppose it's good to think about every once in a while just to make sure you're doing it.
Edit: I just read another thread with some articles about the grip. It seems I have unknowingly been using a weak grip, which probably accounts for the lack of doing this naturally (or at least more naturally). Hopefully the "modern grip" will help me do this without having to think about it.
By the way, I'm going to go back and focus one at a time on that little list of swing components you mentioned in that other thread, but last night out of curiosity I took all of the backswing elements and practiced them before each swing, then forgot about them and just focused on swinging down on one thing, like swinging down on the ball, or getting my hips moving. It was by far the best I've ever hit the ball with the long clubs. So thanks for the help, and I'm looking forward to moving along with it.
