Believe it or not I need to get rid of my Draw. I am a low ball hitter with a big draw ( not a hook) my shot starts right and draws into the target. I played yesterday hit all fairways and greens except the ball will not hold with draw spin. I have been trying for months to get rid of the draw to no available, unless I open the balde up at address. Had my clubs refitted also , they were bent 1* flat , didnt seem to do too much. Any suggestions would be helpful. my 5 iorn swing speed is 91 mph and driver 102 . I even changed shaft flexs on the suggestion of my clubfitter. Still the draw is present. I usually shoot between 78 -82. Thanks
Your scores are great! But I would find a way to hit the ball higher. My Iron shots always stick because I hit them very high even my 3 and 4 Hybrids. I have also been known to hold greens with my fairway woods. Maybe your swing isn't steep enough. Are you taking a Divot after the ball?

Not that it adds to the thread, but I wonder what I am doing wrong with my irons. My driver SS is 115 MPH average and my 5-iron SS is 89 MPH... now my brain is ticking...

Shaft is shorter, therefore less clubhead speed potential...
The fade is hugely underrated in my opinion...everyone works so hard to learn to draw the ball, but a fade will sit were it lands, lending more overall control...
Gripping harder with the last three fingers of your left hand, opening your stance and swinging down your shoulder line, weakening your grip, opening the face, conciously cutting across the ball, ball forward slightly on a drive all can lend fade spin to the ball...
I obviously know why I swing slower with my 5-iron, I was commenting on the difference between my driver and 5-iron being 26 MPH and Stowe's being 11 MPH.
To get rid of the low draw...
Are you de-lofting the **** off the club? If you're swinging 90 MPH with an iron, it's hard not to hit it high. Maybe your hands are way forward at address. Try raising your left shoulder a bit above the level of your right and playing the ball in the middle or an inch forward of center. If you're hitting it that low and hooking it, you've got to have an overactive wrist rotation and probably hanging back on your right side. Release the club through impact, but weaken your grip so you don't rotate too much. Shift onto the left side. Soon you'll be hitting high fades.
Thanks,
Saw a very well respected pro today. First thing he did was pull all the lead tape off my irons. The tape was there just to achieve a heavier swing weight placed in the middel of the muscle back on the iron. Now the irons are a c9 . Than he had me change to a very late wrist cock which felt really awkard.Third my grip I had a very strong right hand and than had me hit the out side quadrant of the ball to . WOW instant high cut even some slices. He than had me concentrate on hitting the back of the ball not the inner quarter I am use to focusing on . Now I have a High Cut lost about a 1/2 to 3/4 club distance on my 5 iron but I like the contol better. Any opnion on the pros tips , do they seem relevent? They seem to be working.
I am pretty sure that he means he lost half to 3/4 of the typical gap between his consecutively numbered irons, 5-10 yards perhaps. A reasonable and expected trade-off.
Thanks,

There is that expression "don't mess with success!"
