I know people have diffrent thoughts about this topic, but Im gonna make it simple. Not matter what club I have in my hand regardless if its driver or 56* wedge..I have got to position the ball off my left heel..(Right Handed)..If I try to place the ball toward the middle of my stance with my irons... I get shots that go to the right...Like a blocked out shot or something..But the shot is weak and tends to fade a little.(Not a Slice)..So whats yall thoughts..Is it ok to have a constant left heel ball position with all clubs.. My stance do change with shorter clubs though...It gets a little narrower.
Is there any particular problem that would cause you to want to change the ball possition? I know it's suppose to change, but do you see a reason you need to change it?

Not really...I know my swing plane and path is good...I just think thats where my swing bottoms out...
I'm guessing that there is some slight movement (compensation) somewhere in your swing from club to club that would cause your swing to bottom out with all clubs in the same spot. But there would be some change in all swings from club to club simply due to the clubs being different. At least you have a constant by your ball position not changing. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will chime in, but I wouldn't think its anythig to really worry about as long as its not causing in problems that your aware of.
Nothing wrong with it if it works for you. Some instructors teach that, but with the width of the stance narrow with short clubs and getting progressively wider with longer clubs.
One of these big time instructors (Harmon, Leadbetter, one of them, I can't recall which) does indeed teach hitting all 'normal' shots off the left heel. In the same vein, some teach hitting all shots that are not teed up from the middle of the stance. And, then, of course, the traditional moving the ball forward with increasing club length.
Frankly, if it isn't broke, by fix it? Here's Harvey Penick's thoughts on it (from his Little Red Book) "Many instructors teach that the ball should be played off the left heel for all shots. I don't agree with this. Good players can do it nowadays from good lies. But if you play the ball off your left heel with a 9-iron, you are going to have to have a terrible fast hip shift to meet the club with the ball on the downblow." If you have this fast hip shift, and are comfortable with the ball position, I'd say don't fix it. If it indeed where your swing's bottom is, then so be it. There are many, many way to successfully hitting a golf ball, and if this is yours, well, then, it just is.

However, he also points out that playing the ball in the same location relative to the left foot doesn't mean it's always way forward in your stance. By taking a narrower stance with the short irons, a ball just inside your left heel ends up being pretty close to the middle of your stance.
I like the idea because it's one less thing that changes for each shot. But I haven't tried it enough to know if it works for me or not.
I use to position my ball in the middle of my stance and even place the ball more towards my right foot when using my wedges. Then I read this and watched ringers youtube video about set up. So this past weekend I went out and tryed placing the ball towards my left foot, under my left ear. Every time I swang I would hit the ground first. Then off the tee I was popping the ball straight up. Is this ball postion not for everyone or is there something wrong with my swing?
I tee off my left heel for woods but place ball in center of my stance for all my irons...even my longer irons. It seems if I place the ball more forward with my irons I pull the shot.
I'm in agreement that ball position is something you have to get a feel for what is best for your particular swing. We might all have a goal for a smooth, Ben Hogan swing but the truth is every swing is different and some ugly swings can have great results. Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, and Ray Floyd come to mind. The important thing is to find a swing that feels right and is not forced.
There is only one simple answer for this topic. Do What Works For You. Don't even waste your time talking about it. What works for one guy, won't work for another

Are you shifting your weight towards the target on the downswing?
