Ok, so i video taped my swing and played it back in slow mo and noticed i have a couple problems.... maybe you guys could help me straiten them out :).
1) st of all i dont get enough hip rotation on my back swing, I cant figure out why even when i stand anywhere i cant rotate much there, I thought I was flexible....
2) I take WAY too much backswing, at the top, the clus is supposed to be pointing at the target, well mine hangs down to the ground(but not TOO sloped to the ground)
That leads to too much shoulder move to start the back swing, my club lags and I slice the bad boy, with a tad of over the top action, but not much.
any tips for stretching drills where i should know how it feels during my swing, I am going to see a pro soon, but would like to try and improve my swing myself too :)

Try this,
1) Let the heel of your left foot come off the ground in your back swing, Jack Nicklaus did this.
2) Take a 3/4 backswing, it will be more of a backswing then you think.
first 5 holes, tried going back to normal self... slice slice :)... so i ended up playing the rest of the round with my irons whice werent going strait like normal either.... time to see a pro :)
I did the same thing. Video taped myself and thought I could correct my flaws. 1st off, man did/do I have an ugly swing. Funny how what you think your swing looks like in your mind and actually seeing it are totally different shows. My self corrections seemed to do more damage than good. I finally took a group lesson and was amazed on what I could correct with little effort. See a pro, it will be worth 5x what you pay for it.
I have video taped my swing, but it was part of a video lesson from a pro. Man did it make a difference, I was moving my head out of the box on my back swing, (swaying). It was causing me to hit my irons fat and thin, he showed me an exercise to help prevent it. The best $60.00 I ever spent in this game.
your hips are not supposed to turn back much at all. you want shoulders near 90 degrees and hips as little as possible. you are alteady going back too far but want the hips to turn back more? doesnt make since. shoulders and arms turn back as one piece, butch harmon promotes this and also the 3/4 backswing.
I'm a newbie to the forum, but this is a controversial topic. My strong suggestion is to do one of these:
1. Get analysis software that also has TOUR swings for comparison. Pick the player most like you and match your swing to theirs. Keep recording and comparing until you match up (this is a long process- been comparing to Nick Price for two years and still not there).
Seeing a good teaching pro will vastly improve your game if he/she is an "individual" teacher-never go to one of those "system" instructors. I'm completely self taught and probably in the low percentage of golfers who have improved on their own. Making a 3/4 backswing is one of the greatest things I've done for my game-it is more than enough. I rotate my hips about 30degrees and turn my back to the target almost a full 90(I have a long range of motionFYI-used to practice martial arts). Keep your arms compact and try not drop or raise your shoulders against your body turn. Learn to SHIFT YOUR WEIGHT!! Keep that shaft angle 90degrees to the target line as long as you can and you'll be hitting some of the best shots of your life!
