I have a problem when hitting my driver that my ball goes down and left and hit the ground. I recently just started doing this. I got a new driver a nike sq 460 s with dinimah shaft. and 9.5 degrees. Does anyone have any idea what i am doing wrong?
I had the same problem when I switched drivers this season. I was closing the face of the club way too much, creating a top spin hook. I opened it up and started bombing the ball again.
You may be releasing too soon. All the power is gone and the club face is closed. I sometimes do this when I over swing. Get a feel for the club. The swing should feel effortless and at 80 percent.
Can you maybe put up a video?
Sounds like your ball is too far forward and your club face is closed by the time it reaches the ball. Try moving the ball a little bit back in the stance.
I have become an expert on Duck Hooks. This is how I am working myself out of that nasty habit. Move the ball back in your stance. Ever since the 460CC Drivers came out the advise has been to move the ball farther foward and the tee higher. This doesn't work for everyone. Also make sure you are swinging inside out. I finally figured out that I was not swinging out on my downswing instead coming across the ball.

Does the shaft feel flippy? A friend got a diamana blue board that was supposed to be a stiff and was marked that way but when he put it on a frequency tester it flexed out at senior flex. It could be flipping the head closed on release.
Idk I played with a cleveland launcher last season and bought a nike sq 460 s with the diamana shaft my freind wanted one of thoughts(i was hitting that one straight) so i sold him mine. then I bought a new 2007 nike sq with the higher MOI so idk if that makes a diffrence in the shaft or not.
I had the same problem and it was due to releasing the club too early. Im now hitting then again with my distance back.
What i changed was trying to pull the shaft down from the top of my swing and pulling it through with my hands passing the ball first. Bit hard to explain
If you think the problem is that you are closing the head of the club when you drive. Practice taking half swings (back swing to ball impact) over the ball to see how the head of the club is positioned. If the club head is closed, readjust your grip and take another practice swing.
