Critique my swing?

Just started playing golf again after a 10 year break. Here's a "slow-motion" vid of my swing I took this past weekend at the range. I believe that particular shot went about 250 yds. I'm still not satisfied tho as I would like to average closer to 270. I'm sure people can see all kinds of things wrong. To me it appears as if my swing is still not full enough and needs to be more fluid. I can hopefully make a more full swing as I my upper body become more flexible.....any tips on how to make it more fluid?

BTW, I forgot just how much I love/hate this game!

Re: Critique my swing?

Alright here we go.....

I can't tell if the camera is off-center or not, but if it is ignore this first comment. It looks like your hands are "forwarded pressed" Also it doesn't appear that you are transferring your weight correctly. Your shoulders are not square at impact. (You seem to want to come out of your swing right at impact stay down on it....)

Good takeway and nice "L shape" on your backswing. You complete your backswing before starting your downswing. Good Grip.

Keep working at it. Take it one step at a time. Take the weak points in your game/swing and turm them into strong points. Good point. I want to see before/after video!!!

Re: Critique my swing?

Thanks for the comments..

Aren't ur hands supposed to be slightly ahead of the ball at address?

I agree I was hitting too much UP on the ball (trying to scoop it off the tee). I thought I had just about cured that habit but apparently not. I need to let the 10.5 degree loft do it's job.

Of course, the truth is I could probably take 5 vids and get 5 different swings. My muscle memory is still having short term memory loss!...lol

Try setting up with a touch more spine-tilt: Right shoulder lower than left shoulder (a bit more than now), head a touch further from the target. And move the ball back (away from the target) a little bit. << No drastic changes, just small adjustments: They make a huge difference sometimes.

Re: Critique my swing?

I'm no pro but setup is way off. Your shoulders are open with a closed stance. Your weight is too much to your left side at setup instead of balanced. When you're turning back your right knee is bending outward. Turning your foot slightly inward would eliminate that. Probably caused by the assumption you aren't getting enought turn or rotation. The rotation you have is fine as the shoulders go past 90 degrees. You are hanging back with the weight too much which will cause you a high ball flight. You also look to be appearantly coming over the top on your downswing so that probably accounts for the lean back at impact to square the face but it adds tons of loft. You might want to take a down the line video as well so one can see your alignment from the side and your backswing and downswing plane. When you finish you would like to be able to draw a straight line from the ground up 90 degrees and your body would be touching most of the line which would mean you swung through with proper weight transfer. Again I'm no teaching pro and others are welcome to contradict what I saw. Good luck and keep working .
