putting.. eyes?

I'm a pretty decent putter, but always looking to improve. My question is where should you focus during the putting stroke. I'm not sure if its wrong or weird but I tend to look at the putter blade and seem to be much more accurate when I do that. Is that bad to do? Thanks in advance everyone

And thank you for all your helful tips, in just a few weeks I went from really getting to know the forests around here to being able to hit my 7 iron 155 yards straight down the fairway.

Thanks a lot

Re: putting.. eyes?

Not that I'm very good or anything, but I always focus on the lettering on the golf ball when I putt... and I was at the dentists' office the other day and my dentist and I were discussing golf, and he told me that a guy he golfs with actually looks at the hole when he putts... don't know how he does it, but hey whatever works I guess...

Re: putting.. eyes?

I simply look at the top of the ball, and I focus on seeing the grass under the ball after it has been bumped on its way. My biggest potential putting fault is to let my eyes (and by connection, my head too) follow the putter as it moves through the ball, usually resulting in a pull to the left. By making sure that I see the grass where the ball lay, I know that I haven't moved my head before finishing the stroke.

Re: putting.. eyes?

Watch the rear end of the ball...hit it with the sweetspot of the putter without looking at it. Don't watch the putter go back.

You can use the back of a CD as a mirror. Put the ball in the middle of the CD and you'll get a better idea of where your eyes actually are.

I tend to look at the part of the ball where the putter will strike it.Then dont move my head at all until the ball is either in the hole or well on its way if its a long putt.

I actually heard that tip the other day so I tried it on the practice green before my round yesterday. Really really strange. You have to trust your stroke and speed decision - I think it makes me tense up even more. I hit the putts well, probably about 1ft from the hole from a 15ft distance, but it would take some serious getting used to. Give it a try and see if you can handle it.

As for me, I focus on the top of the ball, and then I follow the ball immediately [bad habit]. It's what works for me, and I can consistently two putt.
