backswing right arm
For a RH golfer.
I'm looking for a little advice on the fold/bend of the right arm during the backswing. Ideally, when should this action begin? For me it feels normal when it begins to fold almost immediately after takeaway, but as I've learned countless times, 'feeling normal' does not always mean it will help my swing!

Re: backswing right arm
There's really no a certain position that everyone should begin to fold their right arm at. I don't think you should consciously try to fold your right arm at a certain position, that gets way too complicated and it needs to just be a natural action. However, I do this yours is probably folding a little too if it's happening right after the takeaway. You are sacrificing width in your backswing, width creates power and a more consistent swing. Try to keep your right arm straight well into your backswing, try to keep it straight until the club is parallel with your waist.

Re: backswing right arm
Your right arm will fold up pretty quickly. In my swing, I have little to no movement of my right arm from my shoulder to my elbow. That would mean that my right arm folds up really quickly. I am a one-planer.
I think it happens quicker for a one-planer, that is a golfer who's shoulder turn is parallel with their swing plane. From what I have read, a one-planer should have the feeling of being "short armed" through the swing and start down at the ball by dropping the right elbow into the body.

I would say it will depend on how much the player can rotate his shoulders about the axis of his spine, the amount of stretch the left arm can come across the chest, and at what point the player hinges his left wrist (for a righty). Then again, I think I've seen some tips where the right arm begins to fold after the club is horizontal.
