"Posting" that front leg

Part of the impact position we want to achieve is a straight front leg (left leg for us righties). I was watching a slow-mo of Chrisina Kim's driver swing and paid particular attention to her front leg. As she started down and began her rotation foward her left leg straightened what seem to be about halfway to the ball. It seemed to happen pretty quickly not a gradual straightening. At impact her head was behind the ball the left leg completely straight. I don't do that. I''ve see the impact drills. What other thoughts can I have to get that leg moving properly. I have even thought about starting the swing by beginning to straighten the leg. Bad idea?

Re: "Posting" that front leg

I think the bad idea is to isolate individual elements of the swing and try to base a practice session around that one facet...the hipbone is connected to the leg bone and so on...ringer has some good mechanical drills that service the entire swing, the walkthrough drill being one that will get you feeling the weight shift to the front leg...I will bet that after doing this drill then swinging again, the ingrained feeling of movement forward will in effect straighten out that leg neatly...

Yes I agree. That is exactly what I want and essentially what I have been trying. I have done the walk-thru drill, have even used it during a round when I was having trouble getting the weight forward. I am not convinced that is the answer for me though. Just looking for different insights. I went to the practice range during lunch and could really feel the difference when I got it right but as you said concentrating on one body part does not breed consistency. Tends to mess everything else up.
