I have a very high ball flight with a slight fade. With my irons, I like to use a club that I feel I don't have to try and kill it with to get there. I could work another 5-10 yards out of my irons but I like to keep them under control.
I hit mine as far as I expect them to go most of the time...
Here is something for you to gauge yourself against rather than the smorgabord of inflated numbers that always shows up in this thread from iron sets of differing lofts and players of different abilites...I feel a bout of overswinging coming on for the shorter hitters here trying to keep up with the Joneses Golf Club Distance Calculator

That was interesting, bump. I don't hit my driver as far on average as that site suggests, and I hit my wedges a little futher, but that was pretty cool.

I realize that they're probably not perfectly spaced with 13 yards every 4 degrees like that, but I find that gets me pretty close to what really is there.

By the way, I'm 6'2" about 215.
That's pretty neat to see. You probably hit drivers and 3-woods a little longer than I do, and I hit middle/short irons just a little further than you do. I'm way smaller, though... 5'9" and about 165. My driver SS is 115, BS is 168, launch is 13.5 or 14.0. My distances were best estimations of outdoor conditions at about 1500 to 2000 ft above sea level.

We are pretty close martini. I hit my 5i 6i and 3 wood a little further but my 8 9 pw and lob are no where near your numbers.
Driver: 280-300 on a very good day when I can control the ball flight!

I find that I hit my irons shorter in comparison to my woods as they are pretty old now and the shafts wont be as strong as they used to be. I think they must be about 9 years old now. When I start playing again properly I will get some new ones, and probably some new wedges too.

Amen. My bomb-n-gouge buddy claims 280-300 but everytime he actually hits the fairway he's only a couple of paces in front of me (220 avg).
The calculators agree with average iron play for me but I'm 30 yards short on the driver.
I don't know what it is about my game... Through the years, I show a trend of increasing distance with my irons and slight decreasing distance with my driver.
Maybe it's the lighter shafts I'm playing in my irons. Maybe my swing is more fundamentally sound. I don't understand it. I've maxed my driver out as far as launch angle and spin rate, and I hit the ball very consistently with the big stick (center hits). I definately still play bomb-n-gouge, though... unless there's OB or water I can't fly the ball over.

I had tried that first one before but think I like the second a little better.
