Re: Putting Practice

Same here: Some freestyle putting on the carpet, to coins, another ball, a purpose-purchased raised putting cup. No official 'practice routine' here. I just make games up as I go along. I do have one rule though: I putt the same ball that I play.

Re: Putting Practice

Ladder drills are always good. That's where you put down targets a certain distance away (like pennies) and make "rungs" to putt to. For example, a rung between 8 & 10ft, 10 & 12ft, 12 & 14ft, 14& 16 ft, and 16 & 18 ft. Then, you putt three balls in a row in each rung. You can do it in a row first, then pick ones at random. This drill really helps with your distance control.

Of course, I rarely set out the targets specifically at 2 feet intervals. Usually I will use the things already on the floor. For example, I will putt three balls to first table leg, then three balls to the second, then to the couch, etc. Same idea, just different targets.

I also like the "fox and the hound" game. Where you putt a first ball -- "the fox" and then the goal is to putt the second ball "the hound" to hit the first ball. It is a good drill to learn repeatability.

Re: Putting Practice

I was just wantin to see what other people do. My practice return cup broke last night, I guess I should listened when the manual said wait 10-15 secs between putts. I've been putting at balls since then.
