Well I see this suggestion all of the time but have not tried it. I am pretty sure head covers would be dropping to the ground with my swing. It seems you would not be able to lift your arms with the head covers in there. It also seems you would have to keep your arms in front of you. Would be kind of hard to keep the right arm pit closed if you moved the hand back a little. Does this apply to single and two plane swings. I started thinking about this when watching the golf tournament on Sunday. They showed where a golfer would fold his shirt sleeve under the arm pits a reminder to keep the arm pit closed. When can the head covers fall out? After impact? Should I work on this aspect of my swing?
For most people's swings, the leading arm should stay close to the body from address until after impact.
But that doesn't necessarily mean that's right for you. I don't think any drill is right for every swing. But you could try it and see if it helps.
But the leading arm close to the body until after impact is a sound fundamental? Sounds like it could help keep me from getting my arms out in front too far.
Just like any drill dont get too caught up on the training aid. I'm not an expert but from my experience but people tend to worry about the headcover and not what your ultimate goal is. Ask a pga pro for the best advice.
I've used a small wash cloth under each arm on the range to keep my elbows from flying. This yields a good diagnostic and the thickness doesn't give an unnatural feel.

Yeah after a while I just couldn't hit the ball any more. Got the idea though.
