Re: How do you recommend practicing to improve with the driver?

I tend to agree that titaniummd probably isn't trying to hit driver off the deck. If he is, that's fine too, but my take was that he was having a problem with his driver, and also having a problem hitting woods off the deck.
I would prefer that titaniummd speak for himself on that, instead of everyone getting wound up over what he meant, so how 'bout we let him do so?

Re: How do you recommend practicing to improve with the driver?

I'll add something to the actual thread...

for me, it is all in the setup and takeaway...work on your posture, ball position, grip, stance, and takeaway...just be textbook about all of these things...practice just setting up in your living room over and over...getting consistent with your setup will give you consistent results which is the biggest hurdle with the driver...whatever those results may be, at least you will have a ground zero that you can refer to and make adjustments from that point...

As far as range time, 10 balls in any session max, usually less than 5...swinging driver at the range too much is a sure recipe for overswinging...

I didn't mean to phrase the question so ambiguously.

I have trouble with the driver off of the tee. I have trouble with the woods (3 and 5) off of the deck.

The set I have is not matched across one manufacturer. So there may be variability between the hybrids and the woods. I also shortened the driver an inch to 43.75".

Looking at "search for the perfect swing", I am trying to set up the woods in a consistent manner.

The best practice for your driver is to hit balls with a slow easy swing. Get your swing nice and smooth and in balance. Once you have it down, little by little let a bit of speed back in, but don't go so fast thet you lose balance or your smooth swing. With a little work, you should be back to full speed without any lose of balance or smoothness.
