Had a lesson yesterday, good news
Had my first lesson of the year, and it went very well.
I completely rebuilt my swing in October, and have stuck with it with only very minor changes since then, after making numerous changes throughout the year before that. Apparently I've gotten it mostly right, because the pro told me he doesn't want me to change anything at all about my stance, address, or backswing. Said my club head is getting to perfect position at the top of my backswing. The only thing he wanted to change is to make my grip a little bit stronger, should see 1 1/2 knuckles on my left hand.
So I've come away from the lesson with three things to work on. Timing, releasing the club properly, and getting the follow through correct. I was very happy with the lesson, and know exactly the feel to work on for the follow through (which will help take care of the timing and release issues).
I really recommend getting a lesson once in a while if you can find a good teacher. Even if it is only a couple times a year, having an expert look at your swing can really help a lot. I was at a point with my swing where I mostly knew what was wrong, but wasn't really sure how to fix it, and I consider $40 well spent to get the knowledge of how to fix it.
