Anyone have a rough guide of how to determain if you standing to close to the ball? My instructor said that once im in position i should let my right hand off the club.
If my hand/arm rests inside the clubhead im to far away, if its past the club im two close.
Im struggeling with a fade with my long irons, stright to right which is leaving me 10/15 yards right of greens.
Just wondering if im too close, im not leaving my self room to come down the line properly and release the club as i've also lost a bit of heigh, even top some shots!
Im a two-plane swing if that makes any difference

If you hit your mid clubs well ( 5,6,7 irons ) you had failed to bring the long iron's head square in to contact position.
This does not mean you have to swing harder, to acheive a beter contact, you'll have to try not to over swing. Keep your arms and elbows connected to your core, I suspect that you tried to swing faster and the connection between the hands, elbow and arms were just off a bit.
Practice full swing with one thing in mind, a perfect contact, regardless of how far the ball should fly.

Should be"too", not "two (2)". Sorry, but incorrect word usage irritates me.
While we are on the misspelled homonyms, you missed your should be you're. Your is the possesive ... belongs to you. You're is the contraction of 'you are'.
Good job on OP for wrong usage of 2 homonyms in the same sentence.
Getting further from the ball will flatten you out and promote a draw, but fading long irons isn't so bad. A fade with a 3-iron will at least land soft. I say get it started on-line and play it.
Semi off topic, my friend, whom I don't see too often, has this little "cheat sheet" for what do in situations like uphill lies, down hill, draws, fades, how to set your stance, your hands etc.
Anyone know where I could find a cheat sheet like this?

Well, lately the wind has been gusting quite bad.... Looking at gusts of 70~80MPH, so hitting a fade in that wind is a disaster!
Was quite fun, hit a 3i and it was going straight and all of a sudden it was like someone had gripped the ball mid away and just chucked it to the right..

Experiment by moving the ball position towards the center and square the face ( or even open the face a bit to encouraging a straight or draw flight ), spend some time with the long irons and you will find the cure. Sometimes if you're doing everything correctly ( within norm ) practice seems to be the medicine.
