Lefty help needed all help appreciated

Went out and played yesterday, back 9 of Desert Greens GC. Par was 36 and i shot a 60 . Problem is that my drivers will start out nice and straight for about 100 yds then go VERY HARD LEFT! On the holes that I teed off with my 3 iron I had no problem sending them straight up the middle. My drivers have graphite shafts and the irons are steel shafted. Would that have something to do with it? I also have noticed that I do try to use my size (6'2" 235lbs) to muscle the ball some, which im sure has something to do with it but then why does it only affect my drives with the "woods", and my iron tees go straight? Is there any leftys out there that has or had the same problem and corrected it? Thanks all for any advice

hey my dad is a lefty and had the same problem, there are many things you should check...first is basic equipment issue, check your swing speed at a local roger dunn golf shop or any shop, and make sure your shaft stiffness fits it...
then make sure that your swing path to the ball on your downswing goes inside out...look at some videos online, and if you can't, there are drills to do for this...

this drill should help...

I used to have this problem all my woods and it came from having an open clubface at impact making lots of sidespin. If your ball starts straight then cuts hard left like mine did its not a swing plane issue or an equipment issue unless you have a high torque shaft on your driver which is rare nowdays. I watched a video someone posted on here showing different types of grips and learned that I had a very weak grip which allowed me to open the clubface when ever I muscled a drive. I switched to a stronger grip (closed my top hand so the wrist pocket created by the two tendons at your thumb is inline with the shaft of your club) and now my shots have improved on all my clubs. I know I did'nt explained that good but I'll tey to find the video.

It's a long video, but he shows how to mark your glove and where that pocket is in the beginning. He calls that pocket a snuff box. The strong-neutral-weak grips part is around 5:30 minutes in.

I play right handed and I am not an instructor, but the instruction I use is also available in a left handed version. I don't know if it will work as well for you as it does for me. I know there is not much instruction written for left handers. Here's the website if you want to try it. link removed

Thanks all for your help. I will look at the videos and try the drills. I'll report back with my findings.
