Swing Help (Video Included)

Well I was supposed to do this last year but never got around to it. At one point last summer I was shooting mid 80's looking to break 80 for the first time. Well I have been out twice this year and shot 91 and then a 95 so I'm in desperate need of help. I recently (3 weeks ago) sprained my right knee pretty bad playing basketball and I'm currently in a soft hinged brace. I'm a little scared to put considerable force on it and I feel like that may be part of my problem.

I took 2 videos tonight and after reviewing them with last years I'm a mess. I know my setup position is bad, I'm leaning over too much and I contribute that to my knee. I'm looking for any tips to help out, I'm sure with a little more practice this year I could be ok but I want opinions on what to work on before the bad habits become ingrained.

These are from my digital camera so quality is poor but it will have to do

You say your swing is a mess compared to last year. Did this 'downturn' start after the knee injury? If so, you might as well let it heal, and try again later. You do look like you are favoring your left side, but that could be because of your injury. If you don't want to engrain bad habits, you might want to stay away from golf until your knee is OK again.

Yes the downturn started after the injury, and I'm not convinced the knee is really limiting me as much physically as it is mentally. Like I said I wasn't aware of the leaning problem until I saw the video tonight. That's about the biggest difference between this year and last years swing.

I had a bad right knee injury last year, and I bought a slightly more elaborate knee brace (with hinges on each side) than the one you describe. It was only $30 at the local pharmacy. I didn't play golf with it, but it helped me recover really quickly.

I don't think you are bent over too far. Your posture is better than many people that I have seen. You have a nice straight back. I did a lot of fast clicks trying to pause the video at key points and the thing that stood out for me in the from behind photo is that I think you take the club away too far inside. From the head on shot I think you overswing just a little forcing yourself into a little reverse pivot. You may be lifting the arms too high because your right arm is a little far away from your body. More shoulder turn and less lifting may be in order.

Re: Swing Help (Video Included)

Yea I noticed from the front view that I would kinda bounce up and down...like during the backswing I started to lift my arms and back then on the downswing I was dropping back to original position.

I went out again today and tried to remember to be a little straighter and stop the bounce I played alright for about 12 holes then I just started spraying ball everywhere. It started to get crowded about that time though so I'm sure nerves b/c of my lack of confidence came into play as well.

I don't know if it is, but it looks like there is alot of strain on your arms before the swing. It looks like your forcing the club to be there.
