Tips or drills on how to maintain the "triangle"

on my downswing before i hit the ball, my shoulders are already open, I think almost facing the target, while my arms are still on the way down to hit the ball....resulting in slices, pull slices, casting etc.........I think this is a clear sign that I am breaking the "triangle" at impact....

Are there drills or tips that will help me maintain that "triangle" especially at the point of impact?

Thanks!

If you mean the triangle formed by your arms and shoulders, you'd better be breaking it at impact or you're not releasing the club... thus you would be hitting weak fades and balloon slices.

If you are casting, that's a different story altogether. Casting is prematurely uncocking your wrists.

yeah that's the triangle I'm talking about. I think I'm breaking it way before impact, in such a way that I can hit the ball square at all....I was hitting the ball fine 3 months ago but took a one month vacation and when I came back my swing was all out of whack....I'm having a hard time bringing it back....

do you also know of drills that cure casting? I think I also do that from time to time, especially when I rush to hit the ball

You must work on your release..

You have to keep your upper body facing the ground as you let your arms pass through.

Great stuff Steve!

When I am having problems with that, I like the old drill where you take your driver and hold it vertically on the ground with your left at arms length and swing and release the right underneath and inside of it to get synced up. It just takes a few passes then I am good to go.
Cheers,
Bob

There's a training tool called the impact ball that helps maintain the space between the arms during the swing. I find I can lose my tempo/triangle in the short game and sometimes go back to the impact ball to feel the arms in the right position.
