hey guys, ? why when I hit my driver it sounds like a slapping noise when struck than a nice crisp hit? I've tried a couple of different drivers and numerous different new balls but I still get same results. I still get 250-270 out of my drives but the noise, (sounds like hitting from matt off rubber tee) drives me crazy. Then I start trying to correct and figure it out and it turns all sour..Heard anything like it? Help if u can!!
If you are hitting 250-270 with the ball in play I would learn to live with the noise.
No kidding. Especially if you are consistantly hitting them straight. Buy some ear plugs and enjoy the moment.
Just to throw out one idea..........
Since it sounds the same with all the balls and drivers you've tried, might it be something related to the position of your ears in relation to the impact? Head turned one way or the other? Maybe the angle of the neck and spine?

you should hit my driver. the most god awful sound ive ever heard .sounds like im hitting rocks with an aluminum baseball bat. but straight down the middle.and its so shiney
Yes, a lot of the modern drivers have a horrible sound.
If you are hitting 250+ and keeping it in the fairway, that's scratch golfer distance. Unless you are already a scratch golfer, the driver is not what you need to worry about.

How does the shot feel? If it feels solid then it's just the club. If it feels like a slap, you could be releasing it early. But, 270 is not bad.

Tee the ball on level with the top line of your driver face, that will aid you in hitting the "sweet spot"

With COR, Shafts and MOI figured out maybe the manufacturers will focus on that for the '09 model year.
