A few of you have seen my youtube videoes and all agreed that I turn my shoulders and especially hips too much.
I agreed and so did my knees so I tried to work on that on the range.
Funny thing is, turning less and beeing really smooth in the transition made my shots terrible. I mean really terrible. Topping and shanking every shot.
Of course I got mad and said to my self " **** this" . I turned as frealy and long as I could and really gave it some serious speed on the way through.
The most annyoing thing, I hit the ball MUCH better. The flight was extremely high and long and as before a blend of fade/slice and pulls.
Another thing as well, I do have a shoulder inflammation and yesterday my shoulder felt more "sore" than usual and that might have been responsible for the first shots? At least partially.
What I mean with this game is not making any sense is. How can I really just bomb it with a crazy turn and hit the ball much better than with a 3/4 turn and 3/4 effort ?
The truth is that some of us hit good shots with less than ideal mechanics because we make some kind of compensating move on the downswing to get the club square and get back in balance. Of course ball striking is inconsistent to the point we want to improve but changes in our swings bring out other problems even though technically we may be making a better move. We don't need the compensating move, or grip of whatever anymore but habits are hard to break. So, someone may have given you very good advice but it doesn't work because you have other things to straighten out. Yep, golf is crazy like that.
take it easy with your shoulder. stretching out your entire body might help with soreness your feeling in your shoulder. i will stretch for a minimum of 15-20 mins. sometimes even 30 mins. when the weather is cold. then when i grab my bucket, i'll just take half swings until i feel my body really loosening up. as far as your swing goes, i guess when you reach a point where you can't fix or solve the problem on your own, it might be wise to find a good pro to talk and hit golf balls with. i myself haven't got to that point yet. but i'm sure i will someday.
No trips at the range what so ever for quite some time. Only focus on short game improvements and some serious workouts on the rotator cuff muscles, back muscles and hip muscles. (and stretching)
Theres is no point for me to learn swing flaws that are correlated with my bodys imperfections.
I can always keep the ball in play but with a slice/fade or pull if I want to. From there I can get close enough to pitch/chip.
Not ideal in the short run but I have to think about the potential of struggling my *** of with later corrections.
I appreciate your reply endone but if your going to criticize me you can at least give me some arguments?
Arguments that say that you should try to find a swing to hit a ball straight with mobility and strength issues in important muscle groups during the golfswing so that when your body is healed you will have to get rid of the compensations?
Nevertheless, I suddenly discovered that keeping my elbow close to the body during the downswing made it much easier to come from the inside. I was dead certain one should not try to do this because it should happen by itself but now that I did I felt more power and the practice swing came from the inside like I wanted it to.
Also, I have not been able to keep it close before due to my damaged rotator cuff but now its much more strengthened and flexible and I could do it without big issues. Im a little bit concerned wether my rotator cuff has the endurance to do it during an entire round but Im working at it...
What do you guys think? Should the elbow come close to the body by itself or should one focus on that connected feeling during the downswing?
when working swing thoughts, grip, ball position, anything, remember it's going to take time. what i mean about time is, it might take more than a dozen golf shots for the change to take place. it might take 2-3-7 consecutive days maybe longer for you to see any improvement. but dont give up. if it were that easy, geez. also, some changes are going to feel a bit uncomfortable. especially if your trying to break a habit. it's also easy to forget the direction you what to go in and to fall back into the habit your trying to fix. remember work on one thing and not mutiple things at a time. for your shoulder, i think you should see a doctor and a golf pro. my last post was meant for playing a round of golf slicing/pulling shots and trying to pitch to greens. if thats where your game is at right now, i simpathize with you. i've been there. but work on your bag of shots before you step to the tee box. you'll enjoy the game of golf more.

My short game is coming along nicely so I'm not in need for sympathy.. I have learned myself during the years to take the **** live gives and spit back at it, meaning not giving up.
Just because I say that I'm not going to the range does not mean Im giving up. I means I'm going to focus on parts of my game that I can improve in rather than bashing at balls and hurting my shoulders. My shoulders got even worse today so I have to take it easy with all these long swings and practice sessions.
I appreciate your replies but I feel there is some mis communication going on.
But Im not worried though, I know Im gonna make it
