analyze my golf swing please(video)

Hello fellow golf addicts. I first played about 2 years ago and been hooked ever since. Last summer is when I really got in to it. Started golfing about 3 to 4 times a month. Started to really work on my swing then about October of last year kind of stopped playing. Just got to expensive to play in the winter time. Here in Tucson the rates double during the winter. Now that summer is here I went out to the range yesterday and recorded my swing. Tell me what you guys think.

It is a little hard to tell but you look like you have a very strong grip. The left hand for sure, not so sure about the right but it looks strong too. On the behind shot, it seemed to me you are bringing the club way inside at first with a very flat swing plane. This puts your left arm plane well below the shoulder plane at first but the left arm plane then ends up at the top well above the shoulder plane. On the driver video your clubface looks very closed at the top. The bottom line is that I think it is a swing with a lot of movement of hands, wrists and arms that could make timing difficult. I wouldn't know where to start for advice. What is your ball flight like? Do you have a lot of slices, hooks, duck hooks, gentle fades, draws? I see you are attempting to get your back straight in your set up but the stance overall didn't seem comfortable. Your contact with the ball seemed alright though.

First of all let me thank you for taking some time and commenting. As for my ball flight, with my long irons(4,5) They go really straight but not very high. As my club gets shorter the more I seem to pull the ball and get more air under the ball. With my driver I tend to have a slight fade or push to the right. I don't get the ball very high at all with my driver. I think that is do to it having a 9 degree loft. I really try to just swing with my hips and just let my arms follow through. But I do have a habbit of cocking my wrist just before contact. You're right about me trying very hard to keep my back straight. I think that is because when I first started golfing I had a very slouch type of stance with my shoulders and head down. As for my grip I hold the club with only my fingers and not the palm of my hand, is this considered a strong grip? Do you have any recomendations of exercises or drills to help out my swing plane? I do think that is my biggest problem.

Gripping the club with the fingers is very good. That is what you want. A straight rather than arched back is also good. I am going to post a couple of links about grip for you. A strong grip with the left hand means rotating the left hand towards the back of your stance so that knuckles of the left hand face the sky. At address, if you can see all of your knuckles or most of them are turned toward the sky instead of facing the target that is probably the most extreme. A strong grip with the right hand would be to rotate the hand under the club or try to face the knuckles to the ground. Look at the following links. In the first link, go through the steps describing the "lead hand grip" and then look in the links under "Related Articles" and go through the steps for gripping with the "Bottom Hand". The second link also has a lot of discussion about the grip. Scroll down and you'll see a side-by-side-by-side photos of strong, neutral and weak grips.

It is very hard to give you sensible advice about getting your swing plane correct. That is best left to a lesson with a Pro or working it out yourself based on research. Things like grip and ball position and posture are the things one can work on and advise on with greater effect.
