hybrid confusion

I am new here and figured I would ask a question will I searched the site. My problem is I have just bought a new 19 degree burner hybrid and I cant seem to find a swing for it. I hit my irons fairly good with my hands out in front of the head with a downward blow. I hit my woods more with a sweeping motion, and also hit them fair. My problem is if I try to hit it like an iron, I toe it sometimes, and when i do hit it, I get a low ball flight. If I try to hit it like my woods, I usually top it, or just plan old hook it. Does anyone have any opinions on this? thanks

Re: hybrid confusion

I wish I could help you with this. Personally speaking, my utility hybrid is probably the easiest smoothest feeling club in my bag. But, I don't hit long irons well, and I don't hit my driver well. So take into consideration, I was looking for a longer stick that I could hit easily and well.

Just start out on the range doing short range shots with a narrow stance, find a groove--find a sweet spot, and then go with a medium shot, just build up until you are taking full shots.

Technically, I think they are to be played like irons with the feel of a fairway wood.

Wow, glad I was able to help , Lol. Don't know what to tell you man

Re: hybrid confusion

Hit it like a five iron...and take your time with the swing...with the long shaft it takes a little more time at the top to load and stay in sync...

Re: hybrid confusion

I hit my rescue tm hybrids 2 and 4 like woods. With a sweeping motion up in my stance. I rarely ever hit them like irons.

Re: hybrid confusion

i never really think about it - but i guess i hit them more like irons during play, but more like a driver if I use it off the tee as a replacement for a 3 wood.

This is how I hit mine though I really didn't think of the five iron analogy. I have a 3 anf 4 hybrid and I take a shallow divot like a low iron. With a 19 degree loft you don't want to hit it like a wood. I think our problems come when we try and hit hybrids like woods. They look like woods so psychologically we try to sweep them more.

Re: hybrid confusion

i usually sweep of the ground, taking the slightest divot.

off the tee, there is no divot usually.
